What we put in an Ormond Beach house, and why it isn't always the biggest unit
A Lennox dealer's catalog is long. Which parts of it fit a 1949 cottage, a 1977 Trails ranch or a 2019 Plantation Bay two-story is the useful question.

The lineup, by what it solves
The Lennox line we install splits into cooling and heating equipment, air handlers that move the air, and the Healthy Climate products that clean and dry it. Heat pumps carry most Ormond Beach houses year-round. Straight air conditioners paired with strip heat or a furnace suit homes that already have gas from Peoples Gas. Mini-splits handle the duct-free cottages, additions and garages. Zoning systems fix the upstairs-downstairs fight in the two-story homes west of I-95. Dehumidifiers and filtration earn their keep in a town where a third of residents are over 65 and the dew point lives in the 70s. The tiles below go into each.
Matching a system to the house’s decade
A 1950s or 60s ranch in Rio Vista or Tomoka Oaks usually has a closet air handler, a thin return and ductwork that leaks into the attic; the right system there is modest in size, variable in speed, and installed alongside a return fix. A 1977 house in The Trails is often the same story with an older panel. The 1990s and 2000s subdivisions, Breakaway Trails, Tymber Creek, Ormond Lakes, mostly need a straightforward swap for a higher-efficiency match, where the FPL rebate does real work. Newer homes in Hunter’s Ridge and Plantation Bay are large enough that zoning and a variable-capacity compressor matter more than raw tonnage.
Bigger is the most common mistake in all of them. An oversized unit in this humidity cools the air and leaves the water behind, which is where the musty closet and the clogged drain line in July come from. We size from the house, not from the tonnage on the old data plate.

Where rebates and credits enter the choice
FPL pays an instant rebate on qualifying high-efficiency equipment installed through its program. The federal tax credit that used to sit beside it ended after 2025. The rebate pushes toward the higher-efficiency Lennox models, and it goes on the written estimate so the price you compare is the real one. Financing with low monthly payments is available on new high-efficiency systems.
Equipment questions from Ormond Beach
Is a heat pump the right choice for a January that averages 49 at night?
Almost always. A heat pump handles the high-40s easily and its backup strips cover the occasional dip into the 20s. For a climate with roughly twice as many cooling-degree days in July as heating-degree days in January, buying heating capacity you’ll use ten nights a year rarely makes sense.
Can a mini-split cool a 1949 Ellinor Village cottage that has no ducts?
Yes, and it’s often the best answer. One or two wall heads cool and dehumidify a small cottage without cutting ductwork into a house that was never built for it, and the outdoor unit is small enough to tuck beside a carport.
Do you offer corrosion protection for a beachside condenser?
Coated coils and placement away from direct salt spray are both options at install, and a rinse schedule is part of maintenance. Ask for it specifically if the house is on A1A, the river or anywhere the wind carries salt.
